Living with a debilitating illness like ME / CFS can be very difficult. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can have a devastating impact on daily life, requiring patients to make significant lifestyle changes and adapt to a series of new limitations.
Further to these difficulties, ME / CFS patients also experience an equally challenging emotional upheaval. Feelings of anger, guilt, anxiety, isolation and abandonment are added emotional stress that often makes symptoms worse and recovery harder.
Our Free Online Support Groups aim to provide an online community where people with ME / CFS can share experiences, pool resources, and work collaboratively to improve coping strategies in a supportive and confidential setting.
In line with the Canadian Guidelines, we do not support the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of ME / CFS.
As such, the Online Support Groups are a CBT Free Zone!
Guided by an experienced facilitator the groups discuss topics such as grief, relationship issues, coping skills, depression and anxiety.
These are ongoing support groups, which means that new members will be able to join along the way. Being an online group, members can choose to join in the conversation via phone or webcam. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to speak, places are limited to 4 – 6 participants per session . Each session runs for approx. 60 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. Please note that session times are flexible and can be adjusted according to the group's needs.
